Hello Super-Stars! I hope you had a great weekend! I want to ask you to personally thank those who care about you. Whether they are your spouse or partner, a family member, a friend or neighbor, a co-worker, a healthcare professional...whomever they may be, please recognize their worth to you. By doing so, you are recognizing your own worth. Yes, they care about you because you are worthy of their care and time.
We don't always take the time to thank others properly, but we also very rarely value our own selves and, if we are not worth it, then why do so many people care about us? I know we worry about what others think of us, or if they think we look okay or, any number of other meaningless trivial worries. The thing is, everyone else is worrying about the same stuff. It is human nature to worry about such. However, our energies would be much better spent by sending our love, thanks and caring out to others, ourselves and, therefore, the Universe.
So, during this week of St. Valentine's day, put love and caring out there...don't forget to care about yourself...get into the habit of projecting caring and thanks...it will always come back to you ten-fold! I promise!

Noticing My World
Hello Super-Stars! I hope you are all doing well! I want to tell you the story about a chance meeting I had the other day while I was running errands. As I was going back to my vehicle, I noticed a man standing next to the passenger side of a pick-up truck, which was parked next to my car and his door was slightly ajar. I said hello and smiled as I passed, but the door of his truck was impeding my being able to open my door, so I turned back around to say, "excuse me, but I need to close your door slightly in order to open mine." Well, he smiled and motioned for me to see his puppy Pit Bull in the back of the truck. I love dogs and asked if it was friendly and, of course, it was. That puppy gave me no less that ten minutes of unbridled love. He was one of the sweetest puppies I have ever encountered! You often hear how Pit Bulls get a bad reputation for many reasons, but I'm a believer now...they are not all bad!
In the meantime, I was talking to this gentleman as his puppy was being all happy about meeting me, and I found out that this nice man was a poet and had just copyrighted a book of poems. I told him how wonderful I thought that was and that I too wrote poetry on occassion. Well, he proceeded to recite some of his poems for me...WOW...were they inspiring! His face shone as he told me those poems and they really touched my spirit. He said he hadn't found a publisher as yet, so I told him about self-publishing companies and how they might be able to help him get his book on the market. I gave him my card and told him I would be glad to help him find some reputable contacts. I hope he is successful in his endeavors. By the way, this man's name is Cary. (I hope I got the spelling correct.)
Between the kindness of this man and the overwhelming love his dog gave me, my day was brightened beyond anything I could have expected. It occured to me that I had been "Noticing My World," but...so had he. So, thank you, Cary, for making my day, and give TiTi and extra biscuit from me. May God bless you both.
In love, light and, with much appreciation,
Glenna :-)

Love, Civility and Peace
Hello Super-Stars! I hope you had a great weekend! February is the month of love with St. Valentine's day, but it is also Black History month, which speaks directly to one of the missions of this blog; promoting civility. Of course, treating ALL people with civility and respect should come naturally, regardless of someone's station or life situation. When we promote civility, it comes from love which, in turn, engenders peace in the process. Love, Civility and Peace...what a concept...oh, that's right...that's the whole point!
What can you do to change a belief you have that may be long-standing? Are you so hardwired in your beliefs that a Mack truck couldn't budge you? I know some people are set in their ways and that's okay...it's their choice...everything we do is by choice. However, if we want to continue to learn and grow, which is why we have this amazing ability to think; I would say you must have had many times in your life in which you have rethought your position or opinion on an issue and changed your mind. I have found that my outlook of the world around me and, the world at-large, is an ever changing and evolving view; that my opinions are challenged and sometimes changed by another's point-of-view or argument and, I readily let them know that they have effected a change in my stance. I continually question my own belief system in order to stay open to change. I believe that being open-minded to thought provoking discussion is an important element to my growth as an individual.
So I ask you...please make the effort to consider that change of thought and belief is possible; that you are on a continually evolving journey; that there are three sides to every coin - a front - a back - and the edge. Sometimes you have to look around the edge to see what is really going on and it may surprise you to find that it's not necessarily what you always thought or believed would be there. Please be nice to one another and spread love, civility and peace. It's worth the effort!

Love
Hello Super-Stars! Happy Friday and, Happy February! The month for love...St. Valentine's day...chocolate, flowers, a meaningful card, a romantic dinner...a time for love to be sure! I remember when I was a child, my parents bought me Valentine's cards to give out to all of my classmates who were of the opposite sex. That was embarrassing...at least for me! I had crushes on all the girls...the boys were better for playing army or Tarzan...I didn't want any of them to think I really wanted them to be "My Valentine." But that was the tradition back then, so I had to comply. Never having had children myself, I wonder if they still exchange cards in elementary school? Any answers on that one? I await your response.
Of course, back then, I didn't realize why I had crushes on the girls. During the 1960's, and before, most children didn't know why they were "different," however, I knew I was always a "tomboy." To the bane of my Mother, who always wanted me to wear my pretty dresses; I wanted to wear my dungarees (that's what they called blue jeans back in the dark ages) and my older brother's t-shirts; which he still gives me a hard time about...but with teasing love. I didn't find out the truth until the summer of 1975 after graduating from high school. Wow, was that ever a wake-up call! When you figure out that you're gay, it takes a while for your brain to catch-up to that "a-ha" moment and what the heck it really means...especially back in those days. Although, I'm not so sure successive generations are having it any easier!
Love comes in many forms and I hope, that as a Super-Star, you are open-minded enough to realize that love rules. God is love and love is God. Sounds simple enough, but so much hate is generated because of gay love that I have to wonder why? The same was, and still is to some degree, true for interracial couples. Again, I ask why? If two people love each other, as a man and a woman might, what difference does it make if the two are of the same gender or different ethnic backgrounds? Perhaps this is a subject that will generate some interesting commentary. I await your replies...please keep it clean and positve!

Taking the Time
Hello Super-Stars! How was your weekend? Did you help anyone in need put groceries in their car's trunk? Did you salute or say, "thank you," to those people who protect and serve our community and country? Were you kind and courteous to the grocery checkout person, the convenience store clerk or, all of your family, friends and neighbors? Did you "Notice Your World?"
Your everyday thoughts and actions have a profound impact on your life and the world. Did you notice and feel the affect you had on your world this weekend? Do you realize how you influenced the universe's vibration...how far-reaching the ripples of consequence are because of your actions? Every action produces a reaction; positive = positive and, negative = negative. The positive energy that you give out will come back...just like the ebb and flow of the ocean's waves. Making positive choices will improve your world in more ways than can possibly be measured. Believe in the power of your choices.
I would love to hear about how you influenced your world. How you felt about the consequence of your choices and actions or, if you noticed the difference because you were thoughtful when making those choices? Please post your thoughts by clicking on the comment icon at the bottom of this post on the Super-Star blog page at the web site. If you prefer, you are able to leave any comment anonymously, but please understand that I moderate all comments in order to keep the conversation in accordance with the Terms of Use (IE, no profane, racist or derogatory discourse).

Noticing Your World
Hello Super-Stars! Happy Friday! I'd like you to take the time this weekend to pay attention to what is really going on around you. Is there an elderly person that may need your help putting groceries in the trunk of their car? Would you help them if you noticed they were having difficulty? Do you notice the people who serve us everyday...police, firefighters, people in the military or, those that are obviously veterans? Do you ever think to thank them? I've gotten into the habit of saluting all these people whenever I see them...they may be parked in the median with their radar pointed at me and I still salute them as I pass or, if our path's cross in a store, I say, "thank you!" They really appreciate knowing you care. What about the store clerk? Do you treat them kindly? Where ever your travels take you this weekend, go forward with kindness and love for those with whom you share the world.
Every good deed you do will come back ten-fold. You may not even realize the connection when it comes back to you, but you must believe it will. Because it is just as the ocean constantly hits the shore with waves and their never-ending ebb and flow of give and take. Some call it Karma, some call it laws of the universe and still others call it the Lord's way...what goes, must come back - and what comes back, must go...Yin and Yang.
So, spend your weekend practicing kindness and spreading love. Notice that the people and events around you are part of the ebb and flow of your life and deserve your attention and respect...just as you deserve it for yourself from others. Accept no less. In the meantime...have a GRAND day!
In love and light,
Glenna :-)

More on Dr. King, Jr.
Hello Super-Stars! Today is the "official" Federal holiday to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I wonder how many of you actually did any research on the Internet last week, as I suggested in my posting on his actual birthday? Do you realize he was only thirty-nine years old when he was assassinated? I can only imagine how much more work he had intended to do and, how much of an impact that work would have had on the world had he not been gunned down.
To me, it parallels the assassinations of the brothers, John and Robert Kennedy, in as much as wondering how much better the world would be today if all of these three courageous leaders of that turbulent era had been allowed to live; to have been allowed the opportunity to continue their work and struggle for a better America and, in turn, a better world.
I am glad that Dr. King's legacy is honored by a Federal holiday, so that America is reminded of the man and his impact on civil rights. Of course, his "Dream" did not end with his demise; others picked-up the freedom torch and continued the march. The work for civil rights is ongoing and may very well forever more be needed and, if so, the torch for freedom must be carried on; we must continue to hold onto the "Dream."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., January 15, 1929 to April 4, 1968.
In love & light,
Glenna
