Paying Attention

Hello Super-Stars! I hope you are all doing well. Please take the time this week to pay attention to what is really going on around you. Is there an elderly person that may need your help putting groceries in the trunk of their car? Would you help them if you noticed they were having difficulty? Do you notice, or acknowledge, the people who serve us everyday...police, firefighters, people in the military or, those that are obviously veterans? Do you ever think to thank them? If our path's cross in a store, I say, "thank you!" They really appreciate knowing you care. What about the store clerk? Do you treat them kindly? Wherever your travels take you, go forward with kindness and love for those with whom you share the world.

Every good deed you do will come back ten-fold. You may not even realize the connection when it comes back to you, but you must believe it will. Because it is just as the ocean constantly hits the shore with waves and their never-ending ebb and flow of give and take. Some call it Karma, some call it laws of the Universe and, still others, call it the Lord's way...what goes, must come back - and what comes back, must go...Yin and Yang.

So, spend your week practicing kindness and spreading love. You will begin to notice that the people and events around you are part of the ebb and flow of your life and deserve your attention and respect...just as you deserve it in return from others. Expect, and accept, no less. In the meantime, pay attention to your world...go forward promoting Love, Civility and Peace!

In love & light and, with much appreciation,
Glenna :-)

Growing-Up

Hello Super-Stars! I hope you are all doing well. I have come to realize that growing-up, or maturing, is a lifelong process. Whether you are at the beginning of your teen years, or in your twenties or thirties and beyond, there is an on-going process of realization that perhaps you may have behaved in an inappropriate manner. This realization is a key ingredient to the maturing process. Making amends and admitting those regressions to the people they have affected is paramount to growing-up and making adjustments. The thoughts, words and actions you choose and display in this process will directly steer you toward the kind of person you want to become; only you can make the choices for yourself as to who you are and what needs to be done to achieve your goals.

When I was a teenager, I thought I knew everything and that my parents did not. It dawned on me in my early twenties that perhaps I was mistaken in that belief and I readily apologized to my parents for my actions as a teenager. It is now that I realize my parents had already been teenagers themselves and that they knew much more than I gave them credit for and, that each generation goes through the same rites of passage as they grow into young adults. I have found that the notion that we are "All grown-up" because we have reached our twenties is continually challenged as I get older. When we finally realize maturing is a lifelong process, we are able to forgive ourselves, and others, for perceived mistakes and make amends in order to move on in life without guilt.

Learning the truth about how our own thoughts, words and actions really do affect ourselves and each other is an enlightening and powerful experience. The fact that we are, for the most part, all on the same journey we call "Life," gives us the opportunity to acknowledge how similar we are and, in that spirit of togetherness, that we are all at various levels of maturity; which is not necessarily determined by chronological age, but rather by each person's willingness to discover and grow with the lessons of "Life." Living a Super-Star life is a good place to start...the Universe will gratefully accept the positive choices we make!

Appreciation

Hello Super-Stars! I hope you are all doing well. Appreciating the people in our lives is an important part of the process of nurturing our relationships and promoting Love. We may show our appreciation in a variety of ways - verbally, with actions or, a combination of both. It is important to let our family members know how much we appreciate having them in our lives and letting them know we love them, even when they might not act as we wish they would. Their decisions are their own and it is up to us to respect those decisions. Either way, appreciating our family members nurtures them but, is also self-serving because the benefit of Love is never wasted.

Appreciating our spouses or partners...an extension of our family ties...is important so that they know we are not taking them for granted; that they know having them in our lives is important and special; that they know we choose to be with them because of our Love for them and more. It is just as important to receive appreciation in return for all those reasons. Love is the bond of the relationship; however, knowing you are appreciated and, being reminded that you are, will definitely strengthen the relationship.

Our friends are also an important and vital part of our lives. Taking the time to let them know how much their friendship means to us is paramount to maintaining a healthy and lasting bond. We Love our friends for who they are and hopefully we wisely choose those with whom we intend to spend time and emotional expense. Trust and Love will bear out in the long-term. Just remember to appreciate those people in your life who have impact and whom you Love; the reward will be worth the effort.

Caring and Thanks

Hello Super-Stars! I hope you had a great weekend! I want to ask you to personally thank those who care about you. Whether they are your spouse or partner, a family member, a friend or neighbor, a co-worker, a healthcare professional...whomever they may be, please recognize their worth to you. By doing so, you are recognizing your own worth. Yes, they care about you because you are worthy of their care and time.

We don't always take the time to thank others properly, but we also very rarely value our own selves and, if we are not worth it, then why do so many people care about us? I know we worry about what others think of us, or if they think we look okay or, any number of other meaningless trivial worries. The thing is, everyone else is worrying about the same stuff. It is human nature to worry about such. However, our energies would be much better spent by sending our love, thanks and caring out to others, ourselves and, therefore, the Universe.

So, during this week of St. Valentine's day, put love and caring out there...don't forget to care about yourself...get into the habit of projecting caring and thanks...it will always come back to you ten-fold! I promise!

Love

Hello Super-Stars! Happy Friday and, Happy February! The month for love...St. Valentine's day...chocolate, flowers, a meaningful card, a romantic dinner...a time for love to be sure! I remember when I was a child, my parents bought me Valentine's cards to give out to all of my classmates who were of the opposite sex. That was embarrassing...at least for me! I had crushes on all the girls...the boys were better for playing army or Tarzan...I didn't want any of them to think I really wanted them to be "My Valentine." But that was the tradition back then, so I had to comply. Never having had children myself, I wonder if they still exchange cards in elementary school? Any answers on that one? I await your response.

Of course, back then, I didn't realize why I had crushes on the girls. During the 1960's, and before, most children didn't know why they were "different," however, I knew I was always a "tomboy." To the bane of my Mother, who always wanted me to wear my pretty dresses; I wanted to wear my dungarees (that's what they called blue jeans back in the dark ages) and my older brother's t-shirts; which he still gives me a hard time about...but with teasing love. I didn't find out the truth until the summer of 1975 after graduating from high school. Wow, was that ever a wake-up call! When you figure out that you're gay, it takes a while for your brain to catch-up to that "a-ha" moment and what the heck it really means...especially back in those days. Although, I'm not so sure successive generations are having it any easier!

Love comes in many forms and I hope, that as a Super-Star, you are open-minded enough to realize that love rules. God is love and love is God. Sounds simple enough, but so much hate is generated because of gay love that I have to wonder why? The same was, and still is to some degree, true for interracial couples. Again, I ask why? If two people love each other, as a man and a woman might, what difference does it make if the two are of the same gender or different ethnic backgrounds? Perhaps this is a subject that will generate some interesting commentary. I await your replies...please keep it clean and positve!

Taking the Time

Hello Super-Stars! How was your weekend? Did you help anyone in need put groceries in their car's trunk? Did you salute or say, "thank you," to those people who protect and serve our community and country? Were you kind and courteous to the grocery checkout person, the convenience store clerk or, all of your family, friends and neighbors? Did you "Notice Your World?"

Your everyday thoughts and actions have a profound impact on your life and the world. Did you notice and feel the affect you had on your world this weekend? Do you realize how you influenced the universe's vibration...how far-reaching the ripples of consequence are because of your actions? Every action produces a reaction; positive = positive and, negative = negative. The positive energy that you give out will come back...just like the ebb and flow of the ocean's waves. Making positive choices will improve your world in more ways than can possibly be measured. Believe in the power of your choices.

I would love to hear about how you influenced your world. How you felt about the consequence of your choices and actions or, if you noticed the difference because you were thoughtful when making those choices? Please post your thoughts by clicking on the comment icon at the bottom of this post on the Super-Star blog page at the web site. If you prefer, you are able to leave any comment anonymously, but please understand that I moderate all comments in order to keep the conversation in accordance with the Terms of Use (IE, no profane, racist or derogatory discourse).

Noticing Your World

Hello Super-Stars! Happy Friday! I'd like you to take the time this weekend to pay attention to what is really going on around you. Is there an elderly person that may need your help putting groceries in the trunk of their car? Would you help them if you noticed they were having difficulty? Do you notice the people who serve us everyday...police, firefighters, people in the military or, those that are obviously veterans? Do you ever think to thank them? I've gotten into the habit of saluting all these people whenever I see them...they may be parked in the median with their radar pointed at me and I still salute them as I pass or, if our path's cross in a store, I say, "thank you!" They really appreciate knowing you care. What about the store clerk? Do you treat them kindly? Where ever your travels take you this weekend, go forward with kindness and love for those with whom you share the world.

Every good deed you do will come back ten-fold. You may not even realize the connection when it comes back to you, but you must believe it will. So, spend your weekend practicing kindness and spreading love. Notice that the people and events around you are part of the ebb and flow of your life and deserve your attention and respect...just as you deserve it for yourself from others. Accept no less. In the meantime...have a GRAND day!
